Rick: Thanks for setting up this blog for South Durham. I'm sure members will find it very easy to use. I certainly did not have any trouble getting this far - and I am no quick learner. So would encourage anyone else to have a go. Even spotted the "Preview" button to check this before clicking on Publish Post box - to see what happens then. It worked, I think.

How To Become A Member
I hope that many of you will want to join our new blog and publish your own posts or comment on the posts published by other members.
If you are a South Durham U3A member and would like to join the blog just send an email to the email address for contributions, which you will find on the last page of the newsletter, and I will arrange for you to receive an invitation. When you have your invitation click on the link and follow the instructions. If you do not already have a Google account you will need to create one but you can use your existing email address to do this (it does not have to be a googlemail address).
It's as simple as that and takes only a matter of minutes. You will then be able to post and comment to your heart's content. It's great fun and you don't need to be a computer whizz to do it.
This is a great opportunity for our U3A to become more interactive and I hope you will take full advantage of it.

Welcome to the Blog
Hello to all S Durham U3A members. As you probably already know blogging is a fast growing way for people who have access to the internet to share their thoughts, fears and aspirations. More than that though the unique aspect of blogging is that other members of the blog can readily comment on the original post, leading to some very interesting and informative 'conversations'. Blogs enable people to share their experience, pass on tips, raise interesting questions, get something off their chest, make suggestions or just share their thoughts and feelings.
Once we get going the subject matter will become diverse but we can introduce categories to help you find the parts of the blog which interest you.
Everything is set up so that you do not need to be a computer guru to use it. Once you have joined the blog (details of how to do this will be given later) you can make a post or comment on a post as easily as sending an email. As you become more experienced you will be able to add pictures or include links to websites etc all with just a few clicks of a mouse.
I think it is very exciting that we all now have the opportunity to publish in this way and I hope that you will take this up and find it just as much fun as the millions of other bloggers around the world.
